Superbowl Chili

ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean ground beef or shredded beef
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped.
  • 1 28- oz. can whole tomatoes
  • 1 12-oz can beer
  • 1 16 oz. can V-8 juice
  • 5 Tbsp. chili powder (or more)
  • several cans of black beans/kidney beans
  • 1 Tbsp. cumin
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. sugar (to taste)
  • 6 oz. tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1 green pepper
  • Several potatoes
  • Several cans black beans/kidney beans

    Brown beef with onions and garlic.

  • 2

    Stir in remaining ingredients except potatoes. Bring to boil over medium high heat. Simmer, uncovered, for approximately 1 hour.

    Boil potatoes separately and add to finished chili.

    Serve with sour cream and avocados.

Can also prepare without potatoes; put 3 layers of filo dough in soup bowls, fill with Chili. Top chili with shredded cheddar cheese and cover with loose filo. Bake at 325° for 1 hour.
