ingredients

  • 1/4 lbs meat per pastie
  • 1/2 small potato per pastie
  • 1/2 stalk celery per pastie
  • 1/2 C flour per pastie
  • 1/4 tsp salt per pastie
  • 1 heaping Tbs shortening per pastie (plus one for good measure)
  • cold water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • parsley
  • butter
  • evaporated milk
  • egg whites

directions

1. Chop celery, onion, potatoes and steak. Mix shortening, flour and salt to make pea sized pieces. Add water to make soft dough. Roll out and place mixture in center. Salt, pepper, butter and parsley on top. Close. Cut holes for ventilation. Brush with egg white mixed with evaporated milk. Bake at 400 for 1 hour. Cover with wet towel to cool.
