Layered Casserole

ingredients

  • 1 bunch broccoli
  • 1 pkg frozen baby lima beans
  • 1 cup mild cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 T. margarine/butter
  • 2 T. flour
  • 1 can whole tomatoes, drained and reserve liquid
  • salt & pepper
  • pinch of marjoram
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 3 T parmesan cheese
  • 2 T butter

    Grease shallow 2 qt. baking dish.

    Cook Broccoli till tender, cook limas in same water.

  • 3

    Layer: Broccoli, limas, cheese.

    Saute onion in 2T butter, sprinkle in flour & stir.

  • 5

    Add tomato liquid, salt, pepper, marjoram and stir until smooth and thick. Add tomatoes, pour over top layered vegetables and cheese.

    Sprinkle crumb mixture over top.

  • 7

    Bake 425° 15 to 20 minutes
