Chocolate Chip Cookies
ingredients
- 2 cups plus 2 tbs. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup plus 2 tbs. firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large whole egg
- 1 large egg yolk*
- 1/2 tbs. pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- You can freeze the egg white to be used for other purposes at a later time.

Preheat oven to 325 F.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Turn off heat and add both sugars, whisk until combined. Let cool to room temperature.

Whisk egg, egg yolk, and vanilla into butter mixture. Fold in reserved flour mixture until just combined. Fold in chips.

Split dough in half and roll 2 long rolls. Wrap each roll in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm.

Slice and bake for 12-14 minutes,less time for chewier cookies. Alternatively, you can slice the dough and freeze it.
