Chocolate Nut Bars

ingredients

  • 6 oz evaporated milk
  • 1 6 oz pkg of semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  • 2 1/2 cups crushed vanilla wafers (64 w)
  • 1/2 cup sifted confectioner’s sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/3 cup brandy or orange juice

    In heavy 2 qt saucepan, cook milk and chocolate over medium heat, stirring until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.

    Remove from heat. Add crushed wafers, sugar, 1/2 cup of nuts, and brandy or oj and mix well. Let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

    Shape into balls (1" in diameter.) Roll in remaining nuts. Refrigerate 1 hr or until firm. Makes 4 doz.
