Gorgonzola and Sage Sirloin Burgers
ingredients
- 1 pound ground sirloin
- 1/4 cup red wine
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 shallot, minced
- 1 large clove garlic, minced
- 4 sprigs fresh sage, leaves stripped and finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon grill seasoning blend
- Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
- 1/4 to 1/3 pound Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
- 2 crusty onion kaiser rolls, split
- red leaf lettuce
- sliced tomato
- Terra brand red bliss, sun-dried tomato, and herb chips or Yukon gold onion and garlic chips
directions
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high to high heat. Mix beef in a bowl with wine, Worcestershire, shallot, garlic, sage, and grill seasoning, and form 2 big patties, 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Drizzle burgers with EVOO and place on hot skillet. Cook 5 to 6 minutes, then flip. Top burgers with big mounds of cheese and loosely cover the skillet with aluminum foil. Cook until burger is cooked through and cheese has melted, 3 to 4 minutes.
Place burgers on bun bottoms and leave open-faced, with the tomato and lettuce on the bun tops. Top and assemble burgers when you sit down to eat. Pile some chips alongside each burger, then open REALLY wide and dig in.
