Cream of Chipped Beef
A perennial favorite, this one never leaves the menu.
ingredients
- 1/2 lb dried beef
- 2 T butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 6 slices of toast
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar (optional)
directions
In medium saucepan melt butter, stir in flour and mustard to make paste. Slowly add milk. Stir over medium heat until mixture begins to thicken. Stir in dried beef, stirring until heated through. Add cheese for a sharper flavor. Serve over toast.
