Mattar Paneer
Peas Curry with Cheese
ingredients
- 1 10oz. package frozen peas
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 1/2 cups chopped tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon grated or finely chopped garlic
- 2 green chilies, finely diced
- 5 to 6 raw cashews, coarsely ground
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 tablespoon dhana-jira powder
- 1/8 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
- 1 1/2 cup whey from paneer or water
- 4 tablespoons ghee
- 2 to 3 tablespoons sour cream or cream
- 2 to 3 cups fried paneer

Heat ghee. When hot, add ginger, chilies, and garlic. Give it a quick stir and add in chopped onions. Stir for 3 to 5 minutes or until slightly wilted.

Add cashews and stir for 1 minute.

Add tomatoes. Stir and cook for 5 more minutes.

Add chopped cilantro, red chili powder, dhana-jira powder, garam masala, turmeric, and salt. Mix well. Add water and let simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.

Add the peas. Cook uncovered until peas are tender.

Add fried paneer and sour cream. Mix well. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes.

Serve hot with any kind of bread or rice.
