Peas Curry with Cheese

ingredients

  • 1 10oz. package frozen peas
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon grated or finely chopped garlic
  • 2 green chilies, finely diced
  • 5 to 6 raw cashews, coarsely ground
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon dhana-jira powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • 1 1/2 cup whey from paneer or water
  • 4 tablespoons ghee
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons sour cream or cream
  • 2 to 3 cups fried paneer

    Heat ghee. When hot, add ginger, chilies, and garlic. Give it a quick stir and add in chopped onions. Stir for 3 to 5 minutes or until slightly wilted.

    Add cashews and stir for 1 minute.

    Add tomatoes. Stir and cook for 5 more minutes.

    Add chopped cilantro, red chili powder, dhana-jira powder, garam masala, turmeric, and salt. Mix well. Add water and let simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.

    Add the peas. Cook uncovered until peas are tender.

    Add fried paneer and sour cream. Mix well. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes.

    Serve hot with any kind of bread or rice.
