ingredients

  • 2 arbol chiles, toasted and seeded (toast on a griddle)
  • 1 1/2 C. fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 C. tomato juice
  • 2 T. fresh lime juice
  • 2 T. finely chopped white onion
  • 1 tsp. sea salt
  • To serve drink:

directions

In a bowl, soak chiles in very hot water and cover until soft, about 15 minutes. Drain. Tear into small pieces, and place in a blender. Add the orange, tomato and lime juices, onion and salt; puree until smooth. Pass through a fine-mesh sieve placed over a glass container, pressing down with the back of a spoon. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour. The sangrita will keep for about a week.

notes

To drink: serve each person 2 shot glasses and a slice of lime: fill the first glass with Sangrita, the second with tequila. Drink the shots in order, followed by biting into the lime. Hola!
