LASAGNE
Family favorite since 1970
ingredients
- 1 pounds Ground Beef
- 1/2 pounds Italian Sausage (optional)
- 1 can Whole Tomatoes (16 0z)
- 12 oz. can Tomato Paste
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 Tbs. Dried Basil
- 3 cups Small Curd Cottage Cheese
- 1/2 cup Romano Cheese; grated
- 2 Tbs. parsley
- 2 beaten eggs
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 16-ounce Mozzarella Cheese sliced
- 12 ounce Lasagna Noodles (about 12); cooked and drained well

In Dutch oven or large cooking skillet, cook and stir meats until brown. Drain off fat. Add tomatoes; break up with fork. Stir in tomato paste, garlic and basil. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered 30 minutes or until mixture is consistency of spaghetti sauce.

Cook noodles as package directs.

Preheat oven to 375 F.

Stir together cottage cheese, Romano cheese , beaten eggs, salt, pepper and parsley.

In ungreased baking pan, (13 X 9 X 2 inches), make layers of 1/2 noodles, spread on 1/2 cottage cheese mixture. Cover with a layer of the Mozzarella, then a layer of 1/2 the meat sauce. Repeat noodles, cheese, Mozzarella ending up with the meat sauce.

Bake for 30 minutes until sauce is bubbling.

Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
