Chai Applesauce
This would be a yummy autumn treat!
ingredients
- 2 red delicious apples chopped (with or without skin)
- A small chunk of fresh ginger
- 1 chai tea bag
- About 2 teaspoon (or to taste) of sugar free syrup (or maple)
- About 2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
directions
- 1
Bring water to a boil.
- 2
Add ginger, lemon juice, and vanilla and let boil for about 5 minutes.
- 3
Add chai tea bag, take out after about 2 or 3 minutes.
- 4
Add chopped apples. The smaller your apples are chopped the faster they will cook.
- 5
Let this boil for about 10 minutes then reduce heat and simmer for 45 min to 1 hr. Apples are done when they are very soft and look like they are ready to fall apart.
- 6
Drain apples, but save the left over liquid.
- 7
Blend apples and syrup in a food processor and add left over liquid as needed.
- 8
When finished put in container and chill... or eat warm!
- 9
Recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to make more.
