General Tsao's Chicken

This version is much better for you than the fried version they serve at restaurants!

ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup Chicken Broth
  • 2 TBS Cornstarch
  • 2 TBS Sugar
  • 2 TBS Soy Sauce
  • 1 TBS White Wine or Rice Vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 2 tsp Peanut or Sesame Oil
  • 2 Medium Scallions Chopped
  • 2 Medium Garlic Cloves Minced
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Pound uncooked boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into pieces
  • 2 Cup Cooked Rice kept warm
  • 2 Cup Broccoli Florets, cooked and kept warm

    In a medium bowl, whisk together broth, cornstarch, sugar, soy, vinegar & ginger. Set aside.

    Heat oil in wok over medium high heat. Add scallions, garlic & pepper and cook 2 minutes. Add chicken and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

    Add bowl of sauce and simmer until sauce thickens & chicken is cooked through, about 3 minutes.

  • 4

    Turn heat of, add broccoli, mix and serve over rice.
