Kitchen Sink Oatmeal Cookies

ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 cups rolled oats
Additional Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.

    In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening, brown sugar and white sugar. Stir in the egg, water and vanilla. Combine the flour, salt, and baking soda, stir into the creamed mixture. Stir in the rolled oats and the additional ingredients into the base cookie batter. The mixture will become very difficult to stir. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.

    Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool on baking sheets before removing to cool on wire racks.
