Ahi Tuna and Dipping SauceSarah Seitz
A truly simple and impressive appetizer or main course.
- prep time:
- 15 min
- Ahi Dry Rub:
- 1 - .8 lb ahi tuna steak (sashimi grade)
- ~ 1 tbsp. kosher salt
- ~ 1/2 tbsp. fresh ground pepper
- ~ 1/2 tbsp. sesame seeds
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Dipping Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp. honey
- 1 tbsp. rice wine vinegar
- 1 tsp. sesame seeds
- 1 clove minced garlic
On a plate, mix the kosher salt, pepper and sesame seeds. Rub the steaks with a small coating of olive oil, and then coat the top and bottom of the tuna steaks with the dry rub.
Heat your grill to a high temperature. Sear the top and bottom of the ahi for no more than 2 min. per side. The insides should be completely raw with just about a 1/4 inch of seared meat on the top and bottom.
While the tuna rests, mix all the ingredients for the dipping sauce together.
