Mama's Mashed Potatoes
ingredients
- 6-10 med russet potatoes
- 1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese
- 1/2 c butter
- 2 Tbsp chopped onion
- 2 Tbsp garlic salt
- 1 Tbsp pepper
- 1/4 - 1/2 cup half and half or milk

Peel and dice potatoes into about 1-2 inch cubes.

Rinse potatoes in cold water.

In a large stock pot, cover potatoes with cold water about 2 inches over potato level.

Add onion to water and bring to a boil.

Boil for 10-20 minutes or until gentle pressure on a potato splits it.

Drain potatoes and place in a large mixing bowl.

Add butter and cream cheese and blend until potatoes are blended.

Add seasonings; blend.

Add milk slowly to achieve desired consistency of potatoes.

Never use a powder or dried mix! The time and effort of peeling real potatoes is worth it EVERY time!
