Gingerbread Turkies
Aunt Carol bakes these delicious cookies at Thanksgiving. She uses turkey shaped cookie-cutters and embellishes them with icing.
ingredients
- 1 pound butter flavor Crisco
- 2 pounds of sugar
- 1 pounds brown sugar
- 3/4 oz. baking soda
- 1/2 oz. salt
- 3 oz. molasses
- 1 pound eggs (about 9-10)
- 3 pounds flour
- 1/4 oz. ginger
- 1/4 oz. cinnamon
directions
Cream first six ingredients in mixer. Add eggs, flour, ginger and cinnamon. Roll out about 1/4 “-- 3/8”thick. Bake 350’ till puffed and slightly cracked. They taste best when very slightly underdone. You may also reduce amount of ginger and add more cinnamon.
