Barbecued Kabobs

ingredients

  • MARINADE
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • KABOBS
  • 1 1/4 pounds beef top sirloin steak, cut into cubes
  • Fresh whole white mushrooms
  • Red medium onion, cut into wedges
  • Green pepper, cut into wedges
  • Red pepper, cut into wedges
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Small zucchini, cut into wedges
  • Bamboo skewers, soaked in water for at least 10 minutes

    1. Combine the first 7 ingredients in a large bowl. It will make about 1/2 cup of marinade.

    2. Add beef. Stir until coated. Cover, and refrigerate for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    3. Drain the meat, but save the marinade in a saucepan. Bring the marinade to a boil over medium heat. Reduce to medium-low. Simmer uncovered for at least 5 minutes.

    4. Thread beef and vegetables alternately on skewers. Preheat barbecue to medium-high. Cook kabobs on greased grill for about 20 minutes, turning occasionally and brushing with reserved marinade, until desired doneness.
