Caramel French Toast
This is an awesome dish for company. Rich and decadent,this recipe is dairy free, but a creamy version is included.
ingredients
- 1/2 C brown rice syrup
- 6 T soy margarine
- 2 C brown sugar
- 3 T soy milk/creamer
- loaf of French bread
- 3 eggs
- 1 C soy milk
- 1 t vanilla
- 1/4 t salt

In the bottom of a 13 x 9 pan melt the rice syrup, margarine, brown sugar and soy milk together until sugar melts.

Layer the French bread on top of the sugar layer.

Combine the eggs, soy milk, vanilla and salt and pour over the bread. Cover and refrigerate over night.

Take out of the fridge in the morning and preheat the oven to 400°. Cook 20-25 minutes until brown.

True Cream Version: For the sugar topping, combine 1/4 C corn syrup, 6 T butter, 2 C brown sugar, 1/4 C cream. For the milk mixture, substitute whole milk for the soy milk.

Bananas and Cream variation: Slice 2 bananas and place on top of the brown sugar layer. For the milk mixture substitute the soy milk for: 1/4 C coconut milk, 1/4 C soy milk.
